Electrical Technician24-month contractBarrow£306.82 per day PAYE, plus 33 days' holiday9-day fortnight pattern, Mon-Fri then Mon-Thurs (07:30 – 16:30)Inside IR35Morson is recruiting an experienced Electrical Technician to join Spirit Energy's maintenance team at its Barrow Terminal. You will undertake planned and reactive electrical maintenance, investigate technical defects and support the safe and reliable operation of plant and equipment associated with gas production, processing and condensate storage. This is a hands-on position within a safety-critical process environment. It requires previous oil and gas experience, a strong understanding of petrochemical plant maintenance and current CompEx certification. Role Responsibilities
- Carry out routine and non-routine electrical maintenance on operational plant and equipment.
- Diagnose complex technical faults affecting critical plant and identify suitable solutions to restore normal operation.
- Undertake defect repairs in accordance with approved procedures and operational requirements.
- Carry out Power Technician duties and, when suitably qualified, act as SAEP or REP.
- Support the commissioning and decommissioning of plant and equipment.
- Contribute to the design, implementation and commissioning of plant modifications.
- Prepare technical reports and maintain accurate maintenance records for operational, analytical and audit purposes.
- Ensure appropriate permits, isolations and safe systems of work are in place before maintenance activities begin.
- Supervise employees, vendors and contractor personnel undertaking specific work activities.
- Ensure work is completed safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Work closely with Electrical, Mechanical and Instrument Technicians, the E&I Team Lead and operational teams.
- Perform nominated emergency-response duties and maintain the required competencies.
- Promote high standards of health, safety, environmental and process-safety performance. Skills and Experience
Required
- Demonstrable experience of petrochemical process operations or maintenance.
- Knowledge of production or maintenance operations gained within the oil and gas industry.
- Current CompEx certification.
- A BTEC Ordinary Certificate, ONC or equivalent qualification in an appropriate electrical or engineering discipline.
- A sound understanding of electrical engineering and maintenance principles.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing faults on operational process plant.
- Good knowledge of permit-to-work systems, electrical isolations and safe working procedures.
- A thorough understanding of the hazards associated with operating within a safety-critical process environment.
- The ability to prepare clear technical reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with operations, maintenance teams and external contractors. The following would be useful but not essential:
- HV electrical experience or an existing HV authorisation.
- Previous experience operating as a SAEP, REP or equivalent authorised electrical person.
- Experience undertaking Power Technician duties.
- Commissioning, decommissioning and plant-modification experience.
- Experience supervising employees, vendors or contractors in a regulated operational environment.
