An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced EC&I Project Engineer to join a highly respected engineering and technical services organisation supporting the UK nuclear power sector. Working within a well-established project engineering team, you will support major projects across the nuclear generation fleet, with this role specifically based at Heysham.
This position offers the chance to work on complex engineering projects within a highly regulated environment while developing your project engineering and leadership capabilities through mentoring and ongoing professional development.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, Programme Manager and/or Construction Manager, you will play a key role in delivering engineering and construction activities safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Producing and maintaining engineering documentation, quality plans, and technical specifications
- Managing technical queries in line with company procedures and regulatory requirements
- Supporting contractor selection and contract placement activities
- Reviewing contractor drawings and technical documentation
- Conducting technical appraisals and feasibility studies
- Carrying out site surveys and liaising with designers and station engineering teams
- Preparing Engineering Changes and supporting associated documentation
- Producing commissioning documentation and acting as Test Team Leader where appropriate
- Supporting project delivery to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and effectively
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- HND, Degree, or Chartered Engineer status in a relevant discipline
- SMSTS qualification
- Experience delivering projects within highly regulated environments
- Knowledge of CDM and construction project delivery
- Strong understanding of safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Formal project management qualifications would be advantageous
- Experience within nuclear, power generation, or similar industries is preferred but not essential
