The Opportunity
On behalf of our client, a well-established retail fit out contractor based in West Yorkshire, we are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team on a permanent basis. The business delivers fast-paced retail fit out and refurbishment projects nationwide for a range of well-known brands. With a strong order book and repeat clients, this is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and reputable contractor operating in a dynamic sector.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of retail fit out projects, typically ranging from short-duration refurbishments to larger full-store fit outs. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered commercially and contractually successfully. This role would suit a Quantity Surveyor with experience in retail, fit out, interiors, or refurbishment, or a QS from a construction background looking to move into the retail fit out sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial management of retail fit out projects
- Cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Preparation of valuations and applications for payment
- Subcontractor procurement, management, and payments
- Managing variations and change control
- Assisting with final accounts
- Supporting project managers with commercial and contractual matters
- Liaising with clients and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle
Candidate Requirements
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, fit out, or refurbishment
- Retail fit out or interiors experience advantageous but not essential
- Strong commercial awareness and cost control skills
- Ability to manage multiple fast-track projects
- Good contractual knowledge
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
