Safran Seats are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Cwmbran, supporting the development of complex aerospace seating systems for major OEM customers including Airbus and Boeing. This is an opportunity to work within a highly regulated aerospace environment, leading mechanical design activities from concept through to manufacture across a range of new product introduction and platform development programmes.
The Role
- Leading mechanical design activities from concept through to release
- Producing and checking 2D/3D CAD models and engineering drawings
- Working within CATIA V5 and PLM systems
- Managing product maturity and engineering change activities
- Supporting design reviews and cross-functional engineering activities
- Ensuring compliance with customer, OEM and regulatory requirements
- Supporting manufacturing, certification and production teams
- Coaching and mentoring junior engineers
What They're Looking For
- Experience within Mechanical Design Engineering environments
- Strong 3D CAD experience, ideally CATIA V5
- Experience working with PLM systems
- Understanding of manufacturing methods including:
- Sheet metal fabrication
- CNC machining
- Plastics / vacuum forming
Desirable:
- Boeing or Airbus specification experience
- New Product Introduction (NPI) experience
- Previous design signatory/checking experience
- Team leadership or mentoring exposure
