A growing residential development business in Cornwall is seeking a motivated Junior Architectural Technician to join its expanding Design & Technical team. Following a strong period of land acquisitions and planning successes, this role offers the chance to work on a diverse range of residential projects across the county, from bespoke 5-9 unit schemes to larger developments of 100+ homes. You'll be part of a small, collaborative team based in Truro, contributing to both the design and technical delivery of high-quality residential architecture. With all architectural services delivered in-house, this is a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the full development lifecycle - from concept design through to handover.

Role Responsibilities

  • Developing housetypes and standard construction details
  • Producing planning drawings and documentation, including assisting with planning submissions
  • Preparing building control packages and liaising with Building Control
  • Reviewing consultant information and obtaining quotes
  • Managing technical documents and drawing registers
  • Supporting CDM responsibilities during the design stage
  • Reviewing utilities information and managing quotes for new service connections
  • Responding to site queries and RFIs
  • Assisting with tender quantities and interior specification information

Requirements

  • Architectural qualification or relevant experience
  • Experience working on residential projects at RIBA Stages 3-5
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Archicad/3D modelling desirable but not essential)
  • Strong understanding of planning and building control drawing packages
  • Experience producing technical details and coordinating information
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office
  • Experience with consultant coordination or sectional agreements is beneficial
