At Morson Edge, we are proud to be supporting EDF with the recruitment of key technical talent for Sizewell C (SZC) - one of the UK's most significant and complex infrastructure programmes. Sizewell C is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, following the successful delivery model of Hinkley Point C. With planning approval secured and construction underway, the project will play a critical role in delivering secure, low-carbon electricity to around 6 million homes for at least 60 years, supporting the UK's commitment to Net Zero by 2050.

We are now seeking an experienced Configuration Engineer to join the SZC Technical Directorate, offering a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of the UK's nuclear renaissance.

The Role

This is an ideal opportunity for a Configuration Engineer who enjoys working across complex technical environments, engaging with multiple stakeholders, and bringing clarity and structure to large-scale programmes. You'll support the SZC Delivery Programmes to ensure that Configuration Management (CM) is applied consistently, proportionately, and effectively across the project. This includes planning, identification, change control, status accounting and audit, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and robust governance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as a focal point for Configuration Management across assigned programmes, ensuring alignment with project-wide CM arrangements.
  • Support the delivery and continual improvement of the Overarching Configuration Management Plan, as well as the development and implementation of programme-specific CM plans.
  • Help identify, manage and mitigate emerging configuration risks, simplifying complexity and enabling informed, timely decision-making.
  • Support the establishment and control of technical baselines, improving visibility and confidence in the project's configuration status.
  • Play a key role in ensuring configuration data supports effective governance, assurance and delivery outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the execution of the overarching and programme-specific Configuration Management Plans.
  • Implementing, reviewing and improving CM standards, procedures, guidance, tools and templates.
  • Ensuring configuration items are correctly identified, recorded and linked to appropriate configuration information.
  • Working with stakeholders to establish configuration baselines at key project milestones (e.g. Gateway Reviews, Replication Reports).
  • Administering change control processes, ensuring changes are registered, assessed, governed and progressed efficiently to closure.
  • Preparing Configuration Status Reports to support management decision-making.
  • Supporting and delivering CM training to ensure programme participants understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Working closely with Engineering Data Management and Information Management teams to define CM requirements and ensure supporting tools are fit for purpose.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Experience coordinating cross-cutting technical topics within an engineering or project environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply engineering and management procedures.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to work proactively, independently and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A sound understanding of engineering principles.
  • Demonstrable experience in configuration management or engineering management.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Configuration Management standards.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience working on large, multi-disciplinary engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Previous experience on HPC, EPR or other major nuclear projects.
  • Experience using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
  • CM certification (e.g. CM2) or equivalent industry experience.

Why Apply?

This is a chance to be part of a nationally significant programme, working alongside industry-leading experts on a project that will shape the UK's energy future. Through Morson Edge, you'll be supported by a recruitment partner with deep expertise in nuclear and major infrastructure, working closely with EDF to build a world-class delivery team.
