We are currently recruiting for an experienced Systems Technician / LU Mechanical Engineer to join the Fire Operational Department, carrying out reactive maintenance and fault-finding duties across a range of fire safety systems within London Underground environments. This role will involve working on critical fire infrastructure including fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and hydrant systems across multiple LU sites.
Essential Requirements
- Previous London Underground experience is essential / Reactive Maintenance experience
- Must hold valid LU competencies/tickets including Sentinel
- Relevant fire safety qualifications required
- Full UK driving licence and ability to drive between sites
- Comfortable working permanent night shifts
Core Responsibilities
- Test, service, and carry out reactive maintenance, on emergency hardware, fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and hydrant systems
- Diagnose faults and perform hardware/software repairs using diagnostic tools and technical software
- Input and manage Site Specific Risk Information (SSRI) and maintain operational/CRM database records
- Support operational safety improvements by collating information from incident debriefs
- Assist the Operational Guidance Team with ongoing safety and response procedures
- Ensure all work complies with current fire safety regulations and industry standards
- Provide guidance and basic operational training to end users where required
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Need Sentinel LU access
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, blueprints, and structural building plans
- Experience using technical software, diagnostic equipment, and IT/network systems
- Excellent fault-finding and analytical capabilities
- High attention to detail and ability to identify operational trends from data and feedback
- Ability to work safely in confined spaces and at height when required
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, working alongside contractors and emergency response teams
