My client, a global engineering company, is seeking an experienced Lead Portfolio Analyst to support the oversight and performance management of a complex IT project portfolio. This role sits within the PMO and will focus on portfolio governance, financial management, performance reporting, and continuous improvement of project delivery frameworks.
The successful candidate will bring strong experience working across multiple IT projects (e.g. ERP, cloud, infrastructure or digital transformation) and be highly comfortable analysing and presenting portfolio data. Advanced Excel skills are highly desirable, as the role involves building dashboards, analysing portfolio performance, and producing reporting for senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Support the management and oversight of a large IT project portfolio, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
- Produce and maintain portfolio dashboards and performance reports tracking delivery, risks, financials, and milestones.
- Support financial oversight of the IT portfolio, including budget tracking and forecasting.
- Ensure projects follow agreed governance frameworks, standards, and reporting processes.
- Work with delivery teams to maintain plans, risks, issues, dependencies, benefits, and resource data.
- Collaborate with the wider PMO to ensure consistent reporting and portfolio visibility.
- Identify and implement improvements to portfolio, programme, and project management processes and tooling.
- Support governance reviews, audits, and portfolio decision-making with data-driven insight.
- Significant experience supporting complex IT project portfolios.
- Strong understanding of PMO governance, portfolio frameworks, and delivery best practices.
- Experience supporting portfolio-level financial management and reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA, dashboards).
- Experience with Power BI and data visualisation tools.
- Familiarity with project tools such as MS Project, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow or similar PPM platforms.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical and detail-oriented.
- Able to work across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive with a continuous improvement mindset.
