The decommissioning projects team manage a range of small to medium sized projects related to nuclear decommissioning, building demolition and building refurbishment, each with a budget in the range of £0.5M to £45M. The role is to provide direct project engineering support to the Project Manager in technical topics that range from safety documentation to the co-ordination of design elements of any of the works.
- Manage Work Packages and Work Breakdown Structure delivery within multiple projects in support of the Project Manager.
- Work closely with the Project Manager(s) and Clerk of Works Team to ensure the effective supervision of contractors on site.
- Co-ordination of design activity.
- Chairing progress meetings and close out of actions.
- Coordinate design and construction interfaces within the project, attending and providing SQEP input at risk reviews etc.
- Capable of interpreting the identified hazards and able to write/review RAMS in support of delivering the SSOW.
- Liaise with vendors to ensure supply chain delivers to meet production requirements.
- Assist with commissioning activities for new plant and equipment.
- Advise on the sequencing of decommissioning and demolition works and liaise with nuclear waste engineers to optimise waste disposal solutions.
- Ensure compliance with defined safety, environmental and security standards and procedures.
- Preparation of technical documents and reports (e.g. Project Management Plans, Pre-construction Information, Construction Phase Plans etc.).
- Preparation of safety documentation and plant modification proposals for projects.
- Assist Project managers with the identification of project risks, the development of cost and schedules of works and the implementation of works.
- Review of contractor's tender documentation and plans of work.
- Assist with the collation of information for the Health and Safety Plans.
- Liaison with Licensee, Infrastructure and Projects and Tenant oversight functions to gain approval of work and shared service aspects.
- Managing Readiness reviews and Quality Plan through Project lifecycle.
- Assist with Local Authority Planning Permission aspects.
- Preparation of documents in compliance with Project Management and Change Management processes, for example Project Initiation Documents, Project Briefs, User Requirement Specifications, Security Plans, Stakeholder Management Plan and Communication Plans.
- Assist with Project L.F.E.
Specific Roles:
- Represent UNS Project Design with External Contractors, Contractor Design Delivery Liaison and chairing weekly progress meetings.
- Responsible for SDDR & MDDR Design organization and managing Design Review Processes with Design Authority & multiple DAIC coordination.
- Assist the EC&I DAIC with the implementation of requirements into Projects.
- Assist the CS&A DAIC with the implementation of requirements into Projects.
- Champion the 5 Stages of Decommissioning.
- Facilitate the Delivery of Projects through all Stage gates cognisant of Project Delivery from Initiation to Closure.
- Delivery of Projects to Group Procedure and development of procedural documentation Risk Register, Highlight Reports.
- Key Stakeholder Engagement and Management.
