The Opportunity
- As a Senior Scala Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing and developing highly scalable backend systems, influencing technical direction, and helping to shape the future of a rapidly growing engineering organisation.
- Working alongside some of the industry's strongest engineers, you'll tackle complex distributed systems challenges, optimise performance at scale, and contribute to a culture that values innovation, ownership and technical excellence.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing and building high-performance backend services using Scala
- Developing distributed systems capable of operating at significant scale
- Driving architecture decisions and influencing engineering best practice
- Collaborating with product, platform and infrastructure teams
- Mentoring engineers and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement
- Identifying opportunities to improve system reliability, scalability and performance
- Participating in technical discussions and long-term platform strategy
What I'm Looking For
- Strong commercial experience developing software with Scala
- Background building scalable, cloud-native applications and distributed systems
- Experience working within a FAANG organisation or another high-performing, large-scale technology environment
- Strong understanding of software architecture, microservices and event-driven systems
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Passion for engineering excellence and delivering high-quality software
