We are seeking an experienced Highways Supervisor / Foreman to join our growing team delivering a range of highways infrastructure projects across the North West. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and hands-on supervisor with a strong background in highway surfacing and structures works capable of leading site teams, maintaining high safety standards, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily site operations across highways projects.
- Manage operatives, subcontractors, plant, and materials.
- Ensure works are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and client requirements.
- Oversee highway surfacing activities, including planning, preparation, and quality control.
- Supervise structures works such as bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and associated civil engineering activities.
- Monitor programme progress and report to Contracts Managers and Project Managers.
- Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks, and safety inspections.
- Maintain site records, permits, inspections, and quality documentation.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Highways Supervisor, General Foreman, or Foreman within the civil engineering or highways sector.
- Strong knowledge of highway surfacing works and structures projects.
- Experience supervising direct labour and subcontractors on live highway projects.
- Sound understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and programmes.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- SSSTS or SMSTS.
- CSCS Card.
- First Aid at Work.
- NRSWA Supervisor.
- Temporary Works awareness.
- National Highways experience (desirable).
