The Financial Reporting Analyst plays a key role within the finance function, taking primary responsibility for the preparation, analysis, and delivery of accurate financial information to support both operational and group reporting requirements. The role ensures that financial reporting is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines, whilst maintaining robust financial controls and compliance with UK accounting standards. Working closely with both finance and operational teams, the Financial Reporting Analyst will support business decision-making through insightful analysis and reporting, whilst ensuring all reporting requirements for the business.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.
- Produce management accounts and reporting packs to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Support Morson Group reporting requirements, ensuring submissions are accurate, timely, and aligned with group deadlines.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and maintain strong financial controls.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, statutory requirements, and internal policies.
- Validate and reconcile financial data, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
- Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including audit preparation and responding to audit queries.
- Collaborate with finance and operational teams to resolve discrepancies and support business reporting requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency, accuracy, and controls.
- Maintain financial records and documentation, ensuring all control processes are completed and kept up to date.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Finance Director.

Key Functional Competencies
- Strong financial reporting and management accounting experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, nested formulas and data analysis.
- Experience of working with accounting systems and ERP platforms, with exposure to Access Group systems advantageous.
- Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, journals and month-end processes.
- Experience preparing management accounts and supporting group reporting requirements.
Experience / Education
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA part-qualified or qualified preferred.
- Minimum of three years' experience within a finance, management accounting or financial reporting environment.
- Candidates operating at an early stage in their qualification journey, with a strong desire to learn and develop, are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrable experience of producing accurate financial reporting and analysis.
- Strong systems aptitude with excellent Excel capability and the ability to quickly learn new finance systems.
