An opportunity has arisen for a Senior EC&I Engineer to support the discipline Lead Engineer by providing technical delivery of schedule items, inclusive of relevant engineering underpinning through collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and wider SL stakeholders.
This is a full-time 6-month contract role inside IR35 based in Warrington with 1-2 days a week office presence (other SL locations may be considered) and 3-4 days remotely, but can be negotiated based on personal circumstances.
ROLE DESCRIPTIONThe candidate shall be able to reference recent employment history where the CE&I Senior Engineer role has been successfully undertaken and shall be capable of the following:
- Deriving high-level engineering solutions through structured optioneering processes and down-selection of instrumentation/remote handling systems.
- Deriving engineering specifications inclusive of structured requirements management and validation.
- Determining data requirements for a waste tracking/records management capability, in accordance with site regulatory requirements, particularly defining the interfaces between Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) systems.
- Producing design drawings and documentation at all applicable stages of the Sellafield Gated Process.
- Engaging other disciplines and wider SL stakeholders at key lifecycle points, including an awareness of basic project management fundamentals.
- Ensuring deliverables are completed in line with the SL checking and approval processes.
- Must have significant demonstrable experience in CE&I Project Delivery - Translating user requirements and technical specifications into fully engineered, safe and legal design solutions.
- Specification and down-selection of process instrumentation systems.
- Experience of structured requirements management/optioneering practices.
- Determining high-level solutions for data management capabilities, prior to dedicated IT/OT delivery projects.
- Ability to work as part of an integrated delivery team and individually, working within sometimes restrictive time constraints, assuming responsibility for providing engineering deliverables and conducting technical investigations.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people at all levels.
- Demonstrable understanding of the legislative and regulatory environment in which Sellafield operates, including those covering safety, design, and operation of plant including Nuclear Installations Act, Site Licence Conditions, HASAWA, EWR, IRR.
- Demonstrable experience in highly-regulated industries.
- Qualification shall be in a related engineering discipline (Electrical & Electronic / Controls & Instruments).
- Experience of conducting wider stakeholder engagement within Sellafield, i.e., liaison with technical specialists, capabilities/centres of experience, regulatory officials, plant operations/maintenance/engineering entities, ISO/IT entities.
- Experience of nuclear encapsulation/grout flood-filling applications.
- Existing P1/P4 pass and Sellafield IT holder, including knowledge of SEMS/SLMS.
- D03760 (Sellafield Design Change Awareness) and D03770 (Sellafield Checking & Approvals) completed within the last 3 years.
- AutoCAD 2D / Client IT Systems (MS Office, Cimage, AVEVA etc.).
- Degree qualified in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- City and Guilds 2382 - Understand the Requirements of Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 (2022).
- Professional registration with a relevant institute (i.e. IET, IoP, InstMC).
- TUV Functional Safety Certification (or equivalent).
