Morson Edge are working with a tier 1 contractor who are seeking a Building Services Electrical Design Engineer to join their Building Services division.
Location - London
Salary - £50000 to £58000 + Package
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the electrical design and coordination of projects in line with company standards, client requirements and regulatory obligations.
- Contributing to the management and coordination of design activities, working collaboratively with other engineers and disciplines.
- Liaising with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders, attending meetings as required assisting with the delivery and development of client relationships.
- Undertaking site surveys and producing technical reports and feasibility studies.
- Supporting quality inspections and design reviews across projects.
- Assisting with monitoring project costs and commercial performance.
- Contributing to the development and application of electrical and technical standards within the business.
- Producing concept designs, outline costings and supporting tender submissions, including specification input.
- Developing detailed electrical designs, including:
- Cable management systems
- Fire detection and alarm systems
- Lighting design (including controls)
- Small power systems
- Data and structured cabling
- Preparing electrical calculations (e.g. voltage drop, fault levels, protection selection and supply sizing) using manual and software-based methods.
- Working with building and HVAC system requirements to ensure coordinated designs.
- Coordinating with controls specialists to support control philosophy development and descriptions of operation.
- Taking responsibility for electrical design delivery on assigned projects, with appropriate technical support.
- Producing drawings and documentation in line with RIBA stages and the BG6 Design Framework.
- Assisting in the production of tender and construction packages.
About You:
- Chartered Engineer or working towards with professional body registration such as CIBSE or IET.
- Knowledge of:
- CIBSE Guides
- IEE Regulations
- CDM Regulations
- British Standards
- Revit / BIM Standards (UK)
- HTM & HBN (desirable)
- RIBA or BG6 Frameworks
- IEE Wiring Regs to BS7671 18th Edition with Amendments
- Experience of using software packages such as Amtech & Hevacomp.
- A good understanding of LV systems and experience of HV is an advantage.
- A familiarity of National Design Specifications (NES/NBS).
- Experience of:
- Windows
- Excel/Word
- Autocad
- Amtech
- Dialux or Relux
- Revit (Desirable)
- Bluebeam (Desirable)
