Morson Edge are currently working with a growing, design-led placemaking consultancy to recruit a Principal / Associate Town Planner for their Cardiff studio. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional with 8-10 years' experience to take on a senior, client-facing role within a collaborative and multidisciplinary consultancy environment. The practice works across a broad range of sectors including residential, healthcare, education, regeneration, commercial, energy and mixed-use developments, delivering integrated planning, urban design and landscape solutions across the UK.
The Opportunity
This role will suit an experienced Town Planner who is confident leading projects, managing client relationships and contributing to business development and fee generation. You will play a key role within the planning team, taking ownership of projects from inception through to determination while working closely with senior leadership and multidisciplinary colleagues. The successful candidate will have strong project running experience, commercial awareness and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a range of planning projects across multiple sectors
- Provide strategic planning advice and manage planning applications and appeals
- Act as a key client contact and help develop new business opportunities
- Manage project programmes, budgets and fee delivery
- Work collaboratively with urban design and landscape teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Represent clients at meetings, consultations and stakeholder engagements
- Mentor and support junior members of the planning team
Essential Skills & Experience
- MRTPI qualified
- 8-10 years' planning experience, ideally within consultancy
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system and policy framework
- Proven project running and client management experience
- Commercially aware with the ability to contribute to fee generation and business growth
- Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, collaborative and confident working within a fast-paced consultancy environment
