Role Purpose The Production Engineer supports the full manufacturing lifecycle, ensuring products are designed, built, and introduced into production efficiently, safely, and in compliance with Marshall BMS and LCM processes. The role focuses on manufacturability, process optimisation, NPI support, cost reduction, and continuous improvement within an AS9100 environment. Key Responsibilities BMS & LCM Compliance β€” Apply Business Management System and Lifecycle Management processes throughout production engineering activities. PMP & SEMP Contribution β€” Input into Project Management Plans and Systems Engineering Management Plans, defining manufacturing strategy and production approach. Bid Support β€” Create concept manufacturing solutions, work breakdown structures, and cost/effort estimates for bids. Design for Manufacture β€” Review concepts and detailed designs, recommending easements to reduce cost, simplify build, and shorten lead-time. Drawing Checks β€” Perform production engineering checks for new and revised parts. Standard Process Creation β€” Generate clear, repeatable manufacturing and assembly processes for Operations. Jigs & Fixtures β€” Identify tooling requirements and support development via Statements of Work. Condition of Supply β€” Define preferred CoS for components and assemblies. PFMEA Review β€” Validate processes and proposed changes using PFMEA methodology. Root Cause Analysis β€” Support or lead RCA for quality issues and drive corrective actions. Technology & Process Development β€” Assess new technologies and develop improved manufacturing processes. Lean & CI β€” Promote continuous improvement and lean culture. Facility & Equipment Advice β€” Advise on systems, layouts, and capital equipment to enhance production. Capex Support β€” Support capex justification, methods, and commissioning. Budget & Schedule Control β€” Manage own workload within cost and schedule constraints. Personal Development β€” Contribute to personal development planning. Candidate Profile (Aligned to β€œsimilar to Paul Carter”) This is the search persona you should target. Technical & Manufacturing Background Strong grounding in aerospace manufacturing , ideally AS9100 environments. Experience with composites , machining, fabrication, assembly, or multi-process production. Exposure to NPI , production readiness, and manufacturing process development. Comfortable reviewing engineering drawings, BOMs, routings, and manufacturing documentation. Operational & Improvement Capability Lean / CI mindset; ideally Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (Paul has both). Experience improving OTIF, quality, cost, lead-time , or production flow. Ability to identify and implement manufacturing easements , tooling improvements, and process optimisation. Engineering Competence Strong understanding of PFMEA , RCA, 8D, and structured problem-solving. Ability to generate standard work , assembly instructions, and process documentation. Comfortable advising on jigs, fixtures, tooling , and capital equipment. Behavioural Traits Dynamic, proactive, hands-on. Strong communicator across engineering, operations, quality, and leadership teams. Able to challenge design and propose manufacturable alternatives. Comfortable in change environments, restructures, and fast-moving production settings. Qualifications Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent). Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, ERP/MRP familiarity). Desirable: Lean/Six Sigma certification, composites training, aerospace manufacturing exposure.
