The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
Due to the nature of the role, candidates will need to hold an Active SC Clearance. This role will require someone who can work onsite in Cambridge 2-3 days a week.
You will be helping to support the currently installed LAN, WAN and remote access systems, second and third line responsibilities for troubleshooting and resolving network issues. Also supporting other IT departments in deploying new systems to ensure their objectives with relation to appropriate network access are met. Responding to serious security, infrastructure or integrity issues which affect the ability of the business to operate.
Duties will include:
- Configuring, deploying and maintaining network Switches and Routers
- Low level physical and logical network troubleshooting
- Use and develop existing monitoring tools to enhance monitoring of network availability and reporting on network utilisation
- Implementing new connectivity to support various requirements coming from the business and IT department
- Support all network, Firewall and communication links that provide remote access to MA systems and help others to resolve issues which may/may not be caused by network access
- Work with service providers, resellers and support companies, assist other IT personnel and support end users directly when required
- Use and follow IT procedures, documentation and policies. Create and modify procedures and policies to help others support
- Advising 1st and 2nd line support engineers and Systems Administrators on the condition and ability of the network to support their systems
- Raise change requests where applicable for review and authorisation
- Arrange authorisation from department heads for scheduled or emergency downtime of systems which affect their ability to work effectively
- Log hardware, software and technical support requests with various support agencies, for a range of different systems which involve the network
- Carrying out emergency or urgent changes to the physical or logical network, such as switch installations, switch configuration changes to support PC installs, moves etc
- Block network access for any device which can or will impact the integrity and availability of the network
