Morson Edge is working in partnership with a major UK infrastructure organisation to recruit a Principal Structures Engineer to join their Asset Management function within Operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the stewardship and optimisation of critical infrastructure, contributing to long-term asset strategies and the successful delivery of improvement and renewal programmes.
The role offers flexible hybrid working, with office bases available in Bristol or Exeter.
As a Principal Structures Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and specialist expertise to support the management, assessment, and improvement of infrastructure assets. You will be instrumental in shaping asset management strategies and ensuring that engineering decisions deliver safety, value, and performance outcomes.
- Develop and implement asset-specific management plans aligned with organisational policies and objectives
- Ensure asset decisions deliver value for money and support long-term infrastructure performance
- Identify, scope, and commission survey and inspection works to inform asset condition and renewal needs
- Provide technical assurance and expertise in the development of early-stage solutions for asset renewals and improvements
- Monitor and analyse asset data to drive data quality, consistency, and compliance with standards
- Recommend best-practice approaches to asset condition assessment and lifecycle planning
- Contribute to the development of long-term maintenance and asset management strategies
Requirements:
- Degree, HND, or HNC in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Strong expertise in asset condition assessment and degradation modelling
- Experience in asset management planning and decision-making processes
- Proven experience in highways or infrastructure design, construction, and delivery
- Full UK driving licence (maximum of 3 penalty points)
- Willingness to travel as and when required by the role
