An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Engineering Configuration Manager within the Digital Wing team, reporting directly to the Head of Digital Wing Configuration Management. You will be part of the Wing Configuration Management (CM) team working in a cross function Integration role across all Wing programs. Activities will include CM integration throughout the lifecycle of the Aircraft working closely with the Engineering, Program, Airworthiness and all supporting functions.

Mission: Manage and support CM activities ensuring process adherence in line with time, cost and quality deliverables. Support and Influence CMPM (Configuration Management Project Management) & Lean PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) activities for the Wing perimeter. Provide cross Program support in line with business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Engineering Change Process deliverables (stakeholder management).
  • Support Our digital revolution strategy and play an active role to improve it as necessary.
  • Manage workload capacity/priorities to ensure no risk to Aircraft delivery.
  • Engineering co-ordination of SB (Service Bulletin) dispatch dates for In Service Mods.
  • Manage Wing CM activities for Engineering specific design.
  • Responsible for all transnational areas within the Wing CM domain across all Programs within the scope of the role.
  • Manage Engineering Change activities for the lifecycle of the A/C.
  • Collaborate with other functions including Program, Configuration Management, Airworthiness, In Service and Manufacturing communities to ensure deadlines are achieved.
  • Anticipate upcoming challenges and communicate appropriately to all stakeholders.
  • Implement corrective/preventative measures.
  • Manage risks and opportunities in a transparent and concise manner.
  • Provide support to the Multi Functional Team to apply the Processes and Methods correctly.
  • Champion Best Practice and Lessons Learnt within the Airbus community.
  • Opportunity to cross train and support the DMU (Digital Mock Up) team activities.
  • Opportunity to cross train and support the extended Digital Wing team in digitalisation / automation activities.
  • Perform any other activities as requested.

Key Engineering Configuration Management tasks:

  • EDD (Engineering Decision Dossier) management.
  • MPD (Modification Proposal Dossier) management.
  • Delta 1 Management / DQN (Design Query Note) embodiment.
  • Mod Closure management.
  • MISP (Major In Service Problem) closure.
  • SB Process for Engineering.
  • DMU (Digital Mock Up) Gates.

Main challenges:

  • Cross functional collaboration to achieve required timescales with a right first time approach.
  • New toolset development and rollout (ICC-ACP, MCT, LeanPLM and new Product Structure).
  • Creating and supporting a consistent approach to improve efficiency for cross program working.
  • Promote autonomous problem solving for the CM process or toolset issues.
  • Prioritise workload peaks to support Aircraft delivery and Step planning.
  • Support CM business priorities across several Aircraft Programs.

Required Skills:

  • Proven knowledge of Engineering/Aeronautical configuration management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management. You will have a strong professional network (experts, architects, programmes, domains, Finance, Procurement, commercial, strategy etc).
  • Excellent communication / presentation skills with the ability to provide clarity and present to executive level stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of Configuration Management end to end change process.
  • Full Change Process knowledge of Technical and Engineering Change Management.
  • Toolset knowledge preferred (Training available if required): ICC-CADB (Integrated Change Control-Constituent Assembly DataBase), ICC-ACP (Integrated Change Control-Constituent Aircraft Change Process), MCT (Mod Closure Tool), PrimesCCM (Primes Configuration Conformity Management), Legacy tools such as DPDS (Design Product Definition System), ACC2 (Aircraft Configuration Control), PDM Tools with a knowledge of Product Structure across Structure, Systems Installation and equipment domains.
