Skilled Fitter - Aerospace Manufacturing Location: Burnley, Lancashire Contract: Ongoing Rate: £26.19 per hour Umbrella / £19.70 per hour PAYE Overtime: AvailableTake Your Fitting Skills into Aerospace Morson Edge is looking for Level 3 qualified Fitters with manufacturing experience to join a long-term aerospace manufacturing programme in Burnley.
You do not need previous aerospace experience.
If you're an experienced fitter working within manufacturing, can confidently use hand tools, follow engineering drawings and assemble components accurately, your skills could transfer directly into this opportunity.
You'll receive the opportunity to move into aerospace manufacturing, working on the precision assembly of aircraft nacelle structures and components within an established, professional production environment. If you've worked as a: Mechanical FitterSheet Metal WorkerAssembly FitterAircraft Fitter or Aircraft TechnicianSkilled Fitter...and hold a relevant Level 3 qualification or completed apprenticeship , we'd like to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll use your existing fitting and manufacturing skills to assemble aircraft structures and components to precise engineering and quality standards.
Your work will include: Fitting and assembling aircraft components and sub-assembliesWorking accurately from engineering drawings and technical instructionsDrilling, countersinking, riveting, fastening and torquingUsing hand tools, measuring equipment, tooling and fixturesPositioning components accurately for assemblyChecking your work against required quality standardsRecording production and traceability informationIdentifying and reporting defects or non-conformancesWorking safely within a structured manufacturing environmentPrevious aerospace experience is beneficial, but it isn't essential.
What You Need The key requirement is a combination of Level 3 engineering qualifications and practical fitting experience within manufacturing .You'll need: Level 3 engineering/manufacturing qualification or completed relevant apprenticeshipHands-on experience as a fitter within a manufacturing environmentGood practical fitting and assembly skillsExperience using hand tools and fitting equipmentAbility to read and work from engineering drawings or technical instructionsGood attention to detail and precisionA quality-focused approach to your workAbility to work effectively as part of a production teamExperience with drilling, riveting, countersinking, sheet metal, aerospace fastening, composites or self-inspection would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
Moving into Aerospace? Don't rule yourself out because you haven't built aircraft before.
If you've developed strong fitting skills within another manufacturing environment, this could be an opportunity to transfer those skills into aerospace and build experience within a highly regulated engineering sector.
