Role Description
• Reports to the RE&I S Programmes Principal Building Services Engineer. • Assist or lead the preparation of a range of documents and concept design solutions for projects in support of land, sea, and air operations, personnel training, and production & maintenance facilities throughout the UK and Middle East. • Work as part of a high performing team to deliver construction / FM projects to ensure the correct Engineering support is applied through the project lifecycle. • Management and oversight of external design consultants/ specialists as appropriate, inspection of construction works and undertaking surveys of existing infrastructure, writing of technical reports/ papers and presenting findings to others.
Core Duties
? Provide technical input to multidisciplinary project teams and manage own workload with minimal supervision to meet project deadlines. ? Prepare concept designs and options studies that will form the basis of further development work. ? Produce technical specifications and prepare detailed layouts and site plans using appropriate word processing and REVIT software. ? Participate in design reviews as required and attend engineering and project meetings: manage actions arising as required. ? Contribute to team planning, risk management, quality and SHE to support the effective functioning of the Project Team. ? Undertake engineering feasibility assessments, preliminary designs and reports within own sphere of responsibility to professional standards of quality to meet target dates for delivery. ? Oversee and manage the work of sub-contractors assigned to carry out design. ? Undertake peer reviews where required. ? Contribute to the Engineering Lifecycle (ELC) process, Risk Management, Safety, Health & the Environment (SHE), Product Safety and wider project issues as directed. ? Undertake condition surveys, and write technical reports. ? Inspect and report on construction site matters. Leadership responsibilities • The job holder is not expected to have any immediate line-management responsibility, although from time to time mentoring of graduate engineers may be required. • The job holder shall be called upon to fulfill the role of Engineering Manager on specific projects to lead the activities of the engineering team. Budget Responsibilites • The job holder is not expected to have any overall budgetary responsibility although monitoring of programme and budget will be part of any project lead role which may be assigned. • Preparation of Project Proposal Forms (PPF) shall be required for specific projects to estimate hours and cost of engineering team involvement on a project. Safety: ? The role holder is responsible for taking reasonable care of their own health and safety ensuring high standards for safety, health and environment (SHE) in our organisation are maintained. This includes co-operating and following all reasonable instruction, information and training reporting work-related hazards or incidents and using all equipment for the purpose intended. More detailed responsibilities are captured within the Company Health & Safety Policy (759/OF/016) and the Company Environmental Policy (759/OF/029).
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
? Degree or HND qualified in a relevant discipline (E) ? Chartered Engineer (or actively working towards) (E) ? NEBOSH or any relevant Health & Safety qualification (D). ? Post graduate experience in the design and construction of infrastructure projects (E) ? Demonstrable knowledge of managing construction and FM Engineering processes (E) ? Good working experience across project lifecycle phases, demonstrating a whole-life approach to engineering (D) ? Knowledge and experience in the use of CAD Software: Autocad, Revit (D) ? Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, Project (E) ? Must be able to write and present comprehensive professional reports and articulate complex engineering concepts clearly to non engineers and customers (E). ? Excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with customers, partners and suppliers and when involved in team discussions (E) ? Experience in customer facing role (D) ? Experience of working with the KSA Customer (D) ? Experience of discipline specific standards and Codes of Practice relating to design, installation and maintenance (E) ? Experience of other construction disciplines at any stage of the design/ construction lifecycle (D). ? Experienced at leading and managing multi-discipline project teams (D)
