The Control Panel Wiring Engineer is responsible for the assembly, wiring, testing, and quality assurance of electrical and electronic control panels used within integrated security systems. The role supports the delivery of reliable and compliant security solutions by ensuring control panels and interface cabinets used for access control, CCTV, intruder detection, intercom, and integrated systems are built, tested, and documented to the required standards before installation or deployment. This role plays a key part in ensuring panels integrate correctly with security platforms, field devices, and building systems while maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety, and quality control.
- Assemble and wire security system control panels, interface panels, and equipment racks in accordance with engineering drawings, wiring schematics, and project specifications.
- Install and wire components such as:
- Power supplies and battery backup systems
- Access control controllers and door interface modules
- Network switches and communication devices
- Intruder alarm panels and expanders
- CCTV power distribution equipment
- Intercom and communication interfaces
- Relays, contactors, and terminal blocks
- Install and route internal panel wiring including power, signal, and communication cables.
- Terminate cables using appropriate ferrules, crimps, and labelling standards.
- Ensure wiring routes are neat, secure, and compliant with internal build standards.
- Install trunking, DIN rails, cable management systems, glands, and panel hardware.
- Support panel modifications or rework when design updates or site-specific changes occur.
