Morson Edge are currently seeking a UK Export & Commodity Code Specialist on a contracting basis for our Aerospace client based in Yeovil.
JOB PURPOSE
To ensure that UK Business fully complies with legislative requirements of the UK Government Export Control Legislation and the HMRC Trade Tariff codes regulations, for all traded UK Goods.
KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Carry out assessment of goods, analysing technical data to identify the key characteristics of the Goods, liaising with equipment specialists from Leonardo and vendors, to acquire the necessary information to ensure accurate classification.
- Employ a systematic process as required by the UK Government, determine the appropriate UK Trade / Commodity Codes (import and export) in accordance with the HMRC Trade Tariff codes regulations and codification process.
- Create records of the salient information and references used in assessments, for reference and traceability.
- Determine the appropriate UK Export Rating in accordance with the UK Government Strategic Export Control Lists classification process.
- Define and apply correct master data settings and values in the ERP system (SAP), for all new components at GB level, in relation to export classification codes etc., in accordance with Export control rating legislation including US ITAR/EAR.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the UK/EU Export Control Rating Legislation (including US ITAR/EAR regulations where applicable).
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK Customs and Excise, import and export tariff / commodity codes.
- Maintain reference data and databases, used by the team; to aid efficiency and to ensure ratings and classifications are consistent.
- Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work and co-operate with managers, supervisors and others to enable the company to meet its statutory obligations for health, safety and environment.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Able to analyse technical information to determine key characteristics of Goods and understand their principle applications.
- Possess well practiced and effective communication skills, essential to productive liaison with specialists, vendors and stakeholders.
- Possess a systematic approach to analysis and problem solving, maintaining comprehensive and structured records of investigations.
- Knowledge of the βUK Strategic Export Control Lists, Military & Dual-Use' & associated regulations.
- Knowledge of UK Customs Tariff / Commodity codes (import and export).
- Have an understanding of data and information exchange, through the Data Management Service within LMWL, for both internal and external communications.
- Ability to resolve day-to-day conflicts and priority clashes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with specific expertise in Excel, SharePoint and IHS systems.
