The Opportunity
We're supporting a leading name in rotary-wing aircraft company who are looking to bring in an E3 / EMC Engineer to support a range of current and future helicopter programmes. This is a full lifecycle role, giving you exposure from early-stage design through to testing, certification, and in-service support across multiple platforms (including conventional helicopters, tiltrotors, and UAS).
The Role
You'll join a specialist E3 team responsible for ensuring aircraft systems operate safely and reliably in complex electromagnetic environments. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting design and integration of electrical/electronic systems with EMC considerations
- Planning and executing EMC / E3 verification and testing (lab, ground, and flight trials)
- Producing compliance documentation (test plans, reports, analysis, certification evidence)
- Supporting qualification and certification activities
- Working closely with cross-functional teams (systems, avionics, safety, mechanical)
- Investigating and resolving EM-related issues across the product lifecycle
What They're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience in E3 / EMC engineering within aerospace or other safety-critical industries
- Strong understanding of areas such as:
- EMC
- HIRF / Lightning Effects
- EMP / Environmental effects
- Experience supporting design, development, and verification activities
- Ability to produce and review technical documentation
- Strong communication skills across engineering teams
Desirable:
- Aerospace background (rotary-wing highly beneficial)
- Experience working with certification bodies such as:
- EASA
- FAA
- Knowledge of standards such as DO-160, MIL-STD-461, DEF STAN 59-411
- Exposure to systems engineering lifecycle and tools (e.g. DOORS)
- Experience with EM simulation tools
