Are you an Automation Engineer who enjoys finding smarter ways to solve complex infrastructure challenges? A leading technology organisation is looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to join its Infrastructure Operations function, working within a large and highly complex enterprise environment. This is a key role focused on automation, infrastructure improvement and operational efficiency.

You'll be responsible for identifying repetitive and time-consuming processes and turning them into reliable, scalable automated solutions. Using technologies such as PowerShell, Power Automate, Python and Microsoft Graph API, you'll help transform the way infrastructure services are deployed, monitored, managed and supported.

Alongside the automation focus, you'll operate at 3rd Line level, providing expert technical support across a broad Microsoft infrastructure estate. You'll act as an escalation point for complex incidents, troubleshoot challenging infrastructure issues and work towards permanent solutions rather than short-term fixes. You'll also be involved in infrastructure maintenance, upgrades, patching, monitoring and service improvement across both cloud and on-premise environments.

The role will give you the opportunity to work across a wide range of technologies, including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, endpoint management, virtualisation, monitoring and alerting platforms and Microsoft cloud services. There is also scope to develop and support Infrastructure as Code and configuration management, using technologies such as Ansible and Terraform, while gaining exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices.

You'll be joining a collaborative technology environment where automation and continuous improvement are actively encouraged. You'll work closely with Infrastructure Operations, Service Desk, Field Services and Project teams, helping to identify opportunities to improve processes and service delivery. You'll also have the opportunity to share knowledge, document solutions and provide technical guidance to colleagues across the team.

We're looking for someone with strong 3rd Line Infrastructure Support experience who has a genuine interest in automation and solving problems through technology. You'll need strong PowerShell skills and experience with Power Automate/Power Platform, alongside knowledge of Active Directory, Entra ID and enterprise infrastructure. Experience with Python or Bash, Microsoft Graph API, Ansible, Terraform, monitoring technologies, virtualisation and DevOps/CI/CD would be highly advantageous.

Above all, you'll be a strong analytical thinker who enjoys getting to the bottom of complex technical problems and finding better ways of doing things. You'll be comfortable working in an ITIL-based environment, managing stakeholders and communicating technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure or Automation Engineer to take ownership of automation initiatives, work with a broad enterprise technology stack and make a genuine impact on the efficiency, resilience and quality of infrastructure services.
