Morson are recruiting for an Estimator to join a leading engineering and infrastructure programme, supporting large-scale heavy engineering projects.

This is a commercially focused and detail-driven role where you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, supporting tender submissions, and contributing to project delivery from bid stage through to execution.

You will work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and project teams, ensuring that cost assumptions are robust, risks are identified, and pricing remains competitive.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high-value project environment, with a flexible remote model and fully expensed site visits to Belfast.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates across materials, labour, plant, subcontractors, and overheads
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and develop Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement and project teams to validate cost assumptions
  • Analyse historical cost data and market trends to ensure competitive pricing
  • Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions
  • Prepare tender submissions, cost breakdown structures, and pricing schedules
  • Evaluate and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Support contract negotiations and commercial clarifications
  • Assist with cost control, forecasting, and change management during execution
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, client requirements, and industry regulations
Requirements
  • Proven experience as an Estimator within heavy engineering, infrastructure, or industrial sectors
  • Experience supporting large-scale or complex engineering projects
  • Strong analytical and numerical capability with advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills
  • Commercial awareness with a cost-focused mindset
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Desirable
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering project environments
  • Knowledge of cost control methodologies and project lifecycle delivery
  • Experience supporting tendering and contract negotiation processes
  • Familiarity with procurement and supply chain engagement

This position sits within a major engineering project environment supporting the full project lifecycle from tender through to delivery. The role is primarily remote, with occasional site visits to Belfast (fully expensed), and requires strong collaboration across technical and commercial teams.
