Challenger Bank – London (3 days in the office) Fancy joining a challenger bank that’s set to scale? This is a key hire into the first line, offering ownership, visibility and the opportunity to shape how fraud risk is managed across the organisation.
The bank is seeking a Fraud Manager to take responsibility for fraud prevention and detection activity across scams and APP Fraud. This is an operational leadership role with a hands‑on remit. You will oversee day‑to‑day fraud activity, ensuring cases are identified, assessed and resolved effectively, while also driving improvements in controls, reporting and overall framework maturity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead fraud operations across detection, investigation and resolution of fraud, scam and APP cases, ensuring effective triage, decision‑making and escalation
- Monitor transactional and account activity to identify suspicious behaviour, emerging trends and potential vulnerabilities
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex fraud matters, providing guidance and ensuring appropriate governance is followed
- Produce and deliver fraud MI, including trend analysis and performance metrics to support senior stakeholders and decision‑making
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify control weaknesses and implement improvements to strengthen the fraud framework
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal and operational teams to ensure a consistent and compliant approach to financial crime risk
Experience Required
- Experience leading fraud operations within a regulated financial services environment, covering investigations, case management and operational delivery
- Strong understanding of fraud typologies, including scams and APP fraud within payments or banking environments
- Proven ability to produce and interpret MI, using data to identify trends, inform decisions and improve outcomes
- Experience identifying control gaps and implementing practical, sustainable improvements
- Ability to manage stakeholders across risk, compliance, legal and operations in a collaborative manner
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present clearly and operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment
