About the Role
Morson are recruiting on behalf of BAE Systems, a leading Aerospace and Defence organisation, for an experienced Principal Cost Estimator to join their Commercial Estimating team on a 12-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimating professional to support major bids, projects and commercial activities within a highly regulated Aerospace and Defence environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead estimating support across bids, campaigns and projects, including final costing and pricing.
- Create and compile complex costings and pricing for bids.
- Develop accurate material and labour estimates using historic data and stakeholder input.
- Review and challenge functional and supply chain cost estimates.
- Develop and maintain cost models in line with business requirements.
- Support pricing of bids and project changes, including risk, uncertainty and opportunities.
- Produce and maintain a clear Basis of Estimate, including assumptions, dependencies and exclusions.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide estimating expertise at reviews and meetings.
About You
- Extensive experience within a professional estimating or commercial environment.
- Strong understanding of estimating principles, policies and processes.
- Experience producing complex cost and pricing estimates.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and manage competing priorities.
- Aerospace and Defence experience would be highly advantageous.
- Strong IT and presentation skills.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues.
