Job Summary
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will guide the design, prototyping, and testing activities of mechanical components ranging in size from small subsystems up to full aircraft assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Mechanical design for unmanned aerial vehicles and systems
- Take a new vehicle effort from the initial requirements stage, define an integrated design, analysis, manufacturing, and test plan, and execute that plan all the way to fielding.
- Collaborate with a fast-moving multi-disciplinary team, and communicate clearly with electrical, aerospace, and materials engineers, as well as customers and vendors.
- Participate in both ground and flight testing
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers, and serve as a trusted subject matter expert and resource for design teams across the company.
Requirements
- US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED, and ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 7+ years of experience
- Experience with Solidworks or similar CAD software
- Prior experience in a rapid design/prototyping environment
- Proficient in structural analysis and finite element analysis (FEA)
- Experience in development and communication of system requirements, and technical leadership
- Experience with both destructive and non-destructive structural test methods
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods, material selection, and design for manufacturability
- Desire to work as part of a small, fast-moving team with an emphasis on rapidly fielding solutions to the US warfighter
