About The Role

The Procurement Buyer will manage the procurement of all Goods Not For Resale in the business. Using best practice category management, supplier relationship management (SRM) and contract management techniques to keep our competitive advantage by obtaining best value goods and services in line with business goals.

Leading on end to end procurement initiatives, using strategic and robust solutions to drive commercial benefit, sustainably. You’ll be the main point of call and contact to all our key stakeholder groups: suppliers, customers, colleagues, shareholders and communities.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • End to end sourcing of products and services, following the strategy outlined by the Senior Procurement Manager
  • Management of internal stakeholders and the supply base adhere to project delivery timescales to ensure timely success
  • Partnering with stakeholders to provide an effective procurement service, including offering commercially beneficial solutions
  • Identifying new proposals, market shifts and /or ways of working and seeking alternatives where necessary, achieved through regular interaction with the supply base
  • Commit to the 3 year category plan and guide team members to achieve the wider team targets based on experiences gained through relevant category or project management
  • Positively influence continuous improvement across the wider team
  • Partner with suppliers, identifying opportunities for projects and commercial value add
  • Collate and analyse data identifying trends and opportunities, presenting and communicating this to a non-technical audience, making clearly reasoned recommendations
  • Ensuring ongoing governance in specific projects and wider category management
  • Constructively challenging cost where necessary

This is a hybrid role operating over a four and a half day working week. This role is based at our fantastic head office in Bradford. Boasting an on-site restaurant, coffee shop, convenience and sample store, prayer room, free parking and regular company-wide events and promotions. Ideally, applicants will live within a reasonable distance of our office.

  • Knowledge of procurement best practices, category management, SRM techniques and end to end sourcing strategies
  • Commercial understanding with strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making capability
  • The ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • A skilled communicator who can influence at many levels
  • Ability to work at pace, in a fast and flexible environment with drive and enthusiasm

Whether that's IT and tech equipment or energy, waste and recycling services, through to PPE and hand sanitiser to keep our people safe, plus extra delivery vans that help us serve more customers than ever.

It's their job to build strong relationships with suppliers so they can source everything we need to keep our stores, depots and manufacturing sites running. Which, in turn, helps keep prices low for our customers.
