Overview

Right across infrastructure, there is a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. This role offers opportunities to grow and develop, delivering essential infrastructure services for life with safety first and a client and customer centric approach in a friendly, respectful environment.

Location: M Group Energy – we enable the energy essential to support our lives. We provide end-to-end service in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Electricity Transmission Contract, based throughout the UK. Full training will be given, so no experience is necessary (although advantageous), but the role is very physical and requires the aptitude to work at height.

Role: Utility Erector – part of the Site Team responsible for the safe delivery of Transmission Contracts where we refurbish, upgrade, build and repair Transmission Towers (Pylons).

Responsibilities

  • General Rigging – Rigging towers for lifting/lowering of equipment and materials while supervised.
  • Earthing – Earthing duties as a member of a working party including applying earths while supervised.
  • Spacer/de-spacer – Installation and removal of spacers from conductors while supervised; pre-inspection of spacer chairs prior to use.
  • Clip in/out & reinsulate – Re-insulation works including working from a platform or ladder while supervised.
  • Platform erection & working – Assist in assembling platforms, rigging and holding out while supervised.
  • Work readiness – You will join a team that ensures safe delivery of transmission contracts, with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Able to follow instructions.
  • Any mechanical/engineering knowledge is advantageous but not essential.
  • Respect for Health and Safety is paramount due to the nature of the work.
  • High degree of manual dexterity demonstrated through the use of hand tools.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weathers and to walk/stand on uneven ground.
  • Willingness to work and stay away from home; ability to work at height.
