Responsibilities
- About the Role: Guided by department and practice group objectives, the Manager supports partners, practice groups, and associates throughout their careers in Europe, promoting onboarding, integration, talent development, engagement, and morale. The Manager works closely with Talent Team, D&I Group, and HR to implement global programs with region‑specific adaptations.
- New Legal Professional Onboarding and Integration: Develop onboarding programs and conduct sessions to raise policy awareness. Establish recurring touch‑points, including check‑ins and office hours, to build community. Guide the probationary review process with HR coordination. Work with D&I to customize mentoring programs, recommend matches, and monitor effectiveness.
- Resource to Legal Professionals: Promote L&D culture to interns, trainees, partners, and Legal Professionals via email and personal outreach. Support initiatives that enhance career development and engagement. Highlight performance expectations within MyMoFo. Serve as a resource for firm expectations, policies, and procedures. Provide understanding of regional licensing issues and compliance support. Review and suggest updates to career development policies in partnership with HR.
- Legal Professional Engagement: Work with local leadership to promote morale and implement plans. Support transparency and communication between attorneys and leadership. Partner with HR and GCs on sensitive issues. Provide input for firmwide communications on compensation, development, and engagement. Conduct exit interviews and report trends to partners and directors.
- Performance Management / Talent Development: Guide partners on evaluations, coaching, and career guidance. Ensure consistent delivery of evaluations across the firm. Facilitate trainee seat rotations and integration. Track monthly utilization reports and advise partners. Work with partners and HR on attorney terminations. Communicate training needs to the International Program Manager.
- Career Transitions: Coordinate transfer processes with Global Mobility and policy updates. Drive promotion documentation and memo drafting. Oversee LLM and trainee transfers across offices. Manage individualized employment arrangements, including memo generation.
- Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) and Women’s Initiatives: Provide insights on regional D&I and women’s initiatives. Implement and assess D&I events.
- Professional Development: Stay current on training and inclusion issues and share best practices. Use current technology to improve teamwork and client service.
- Client Service, Confidentiality, and Safety: Model firm’s Client Service Principles in leadership and teamwork. Safeguard confidential data and report breaches. Uphold general safety procedures and any unique departmental practices.
- Other Duties: Travel to regional offices as requested. Availability outside standard business hours when necessary. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Law degree and experience at a major law firm preferred.
- Strong background in Attorney Development, talent and performance management.
