About The Role
Mechanical & Electrical Director
We are pleased to present a rarely advertised opportunity to join MGroup Transport Division in a critical role to further our success.
The Mechanical & Electrical Director is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all mechanical and electrical projects and operations within the organization. This individual will lead the engineering team, drive innovation, ensure the highest standards of quality and safety, and work closely with other departments to align engineering initiatives with the company’s strategic goals.
Reporting into the Managing Director, the Mechanical & Electrical Director will provide strategic direction and leadership to the mechanical & electrical team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the recruitment, development, and performance management of engineering staff
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects on time and within budget
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior management
- Drive innovation in mechanical & electrical engineering design and processes
- Support research and development activities to enhance product offerings
- Optimize engineering processes to reduce costs and improve performance
- Work closely with other departments, including production, quality assurance, and sales, to ensure alignment of engineering activities with business objectives
- Represent the engineering department in executive meetings and strategic planning sessions
- Develop and manage the engineering budget
The Person
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA is preferred
- Extensive experience in mechanical/electrical engineering, with substantial time in a senior leadership role
- Established expertise in the Rail and/or Aviation industries
- Understanding of both High and Low voltage systems
- Proven track record of managing complex engineering projects and teams
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is desirable
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be an advantage
