The Role
We are looking for a talented Senior Management Accountant to play a key role in our finance function. Working closely with the Finance Manager and Finance Director, you will help deliver accurate, timely and insightful financial information that supports strong commercial decision‑making across the business. You will also help maintain robust financial controls and governance, while championing our values of being friendly and supportive, open, fair and challenging, and working together as one business. In this role, you will primarily support the Morris & Spottiswood Group, while also providing financial insight and support across Morris Group Holdings and its subsidiaries.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Client: Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, particularly Commercial, IT & external software partners. Translate financial information into clear, actionable insights for non‑finance stakeholders. Deliver a high standard of internal service and responsiveness across all group entities.
- People: Develop effective working relationships to deliver the requirements of the role. Support a one‑business culture through open and effective communication. Manage conflict and communication issues where necessary.
- General: Compliance with the Employee Handbook, Company processes and procedures. Undertaking learning and development activities to enable improvement in personal performance effectiveness. Offer a flexible and proactive approach to the business, undertaking additional duties that may fall outside of job profile in support of wider business requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CA or equivalent) with 2+ years' post‑qualification experience in management accounting.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including accruals, pre‑payments, reconciliations, balance sheet and intercompany accounting.
- Experience partnering with operational, commercial or procurement teams and supporting the external audit process.
- Strong analytical, organisational, problem‑solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Exposure to systems improvements, finance transformation or automation projects is desirable; Microsoft Dynamics 365 and construction industry experience are advantageous.
