We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to support the delivery of production and manufacturing refurbishment projects for a prestigious client. The role will assume responsibility for the day to day running of the project, including the management of on site activities and labour. The successful candidates will hold a thorough working knowledge of site set up and delivery to enable the safe, timely delivery of a quality product. The ability to programme works, either using Asta Power Project or MS Project is essential.
A critical area of skill is the promotion of a safe working environment to maximise safety with direct employees, agency staff and sub contractors and to take necessary action where serious or repeated disregard for safety is shown. The successful individual will be someone who sets a personal example at all times, particularly in the compliance of Company health and safety processes and procedures.
Acting as a first point of contact for the site operations team to offer support and advice, the role assumes overall responsibility to ensure the onsite labour team have the requisite skill, qualifications and experience to carry out their activities by regularly monitoring performance and quality of work. In doing so, successful candidates will be expected to consistently behave and interact in line with the values of the business, while leading their team, setting objectives and developing people in order to provide a service of quality to customers and clients, both internal and external. Ensuring compliance with all aspects of both Health & Safety Legislation and internal H&S Management System will be crucial.
Successful candidates will also be confident in attending and chairing site progress meetings – both internally and with subcontractors – providing progress updates/minutes as required. The individual is also likely to have at least 5 years relevant experience. This role will report to a Project Manager and will be predominantly site based during live contracts and attendance at a base office location may be required for in-house/client meetings. Candidates must be willing to work out with standard working hours (including backshift, nightshift and weekends where required). Working patterns will be explained at the outset of any project.
Experience and Background: Candidates considered for this role will already be in a site management position with a proven background in construction/civils. Construction experience is vital to support any build aspects of the project. It is also desirable if candidates have experience in running contracts with values ranging from £100k - £5m.
Personal Attributes: The successful individual will be a dedicated and results-driven construction manager with a successful background in the achievement of profitable and quality-led contracts. Strong leadership and team management skills, coupled with a decisive problem solving ability and excellent time management skills are imperative to the role. You should have excellent communications skills as you will be required to express your opinions both in writing and verbally at internal and external meetings. In addition, you should be able to demonstrate a good track record of working with clients to meet their expectations as well as to deliver for the business.
Other information: Whilst our standard business hours are 8-5 Monday-Thursday and 8-4 on a Friday, the reality of being a Site Manager in fitout/construction can differ from this. The role will involve working away from home, working a variety of shifts (including possible backshift, nightshift and weekend working).
