Morningstar DBRS is seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in real estate finance and credit analysis to join its European Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS) team. The successful candidate will serve as a trainer for junior team members and lead analyst for Morningstar DBRS rated transactions or entities. The candidate should have an advanced understanding of European real estate sectors and a broad understanding of Morningstar DBRS rating methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Act as the lead analyst and manage the rating process for EU CMBS transactions, ensuring compliance with rating methodology.
- Train and manage junior team members through the credit rating process on various CMBS transactions.
- Understand real estate classes and determine Morningstar DBRS stabilized cash flows for major property types and a range of loan sizes.
- Develop property cash flows for transitional properties considering the borrower's business plan and risk profile.
- Present and oversee credit recommendations to senior credit committee members.
- Lead the completion of rating reports, press releases, commentaries, presentations, and industry reports.
- Assist with publishing workflows, including regulatory disclosures.
- Manage client communications with issuers, investors, and intermediaries.
- Adhere to compliance, regulatory, and company policies.
Requirements
- Five to eight years of experience in a CRE-related field, such as banking, private credit, servicing, or valuation services; experience in capital markets or structured finance is a plus.
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, business, finance, or related discipline preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and CRE credit experience.
- Experience in managing and mentoring junior staff.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Self-motivated team player capable of meeting deadlines with high-quality work.
- Interest in commercial real estate and structured finance.
- Occasional European travel required.
