We are seeking someone to join our team as a Vice President on the Risk Management - QAG audit team, based in London. The business covered by this role is primarily focused on the EMEA Risk Analytics and Model Risk Management (MRM) team. The Internal Audit Division (IAD) drives attention and resources to vulnerabilities by providing an independent and well-informed view and impactful messages about the most important risks facing our Firm. This is accomplished by performing a range of assurance activities to independently assess the quality and effectiveness of Morgan Stanley’s system of internal control, including risk management and governance systems and processes. IAD serves as an objective and independent function within the Firm’s risk management framework to foster continual improvement of risk management processes.

This is a Vice President level position within our Technical Specialist job family, which is responsible for providing extensive subject matter expertise and reinforcing the ability of business and technology audit teams to appropriately assess risk and determine and execute coverage.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Conduct risk assessment to prioritize coverage and align coverage strategy, scope of testing, and inspection techniques accordingly
  • Lead a wide range of assurance activities (e.g., audits, continuous monitoring, closure verification) to assess risk and the state of controls within coverage area
  • Comprehensively articulate actionable insights regarding criticality and impact of risk and how well risk is managed to senior stakeholders and regulators
  • Identify KRIs/KPIs and associated data sources to inform views on risk within coverage area
  • Collaborate with global peers to identify and discuss risk themes and implications across business segments
  • Help inform and address talent needs within coverage area, and identify stretch and development opportunities for team members
  • Manage effective deployment and utilization of resources across assurance activities and deliverables to ensure on-time delivery and quality control
  • Review Risk, Capital, and Prudent Valuation models against regulatory guidance on model risk
  • Lead audit activities for PRA-related matters/initiatives, involving interaction and relationship management with regulators and internal stakeholders (e.g., model owners/users, model developers, and model validators)
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise and support on financial derivatives and risk analytics in other Internal Audit engagements

What you'll bring to the role:

  • At least 8 years relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
  • Advanced understanding of coverage area and industry, including risks, emerging risks, and relevant regulations
  • Expertise in audit principles, methodology, tools, and processes (e.g., risk assessments, planning, testing, reporting and continuous monitoring)
  • Ability to analyse data and prioritize coverage and assurance activities based on the critically of risk
  • Ability to inspire and support others to do their best work through active coaching, feedback, and development opportunities, and by ensuring trust and inclusion among team members
  • Experience in overseeing resource utilization and monitoring progress against deliverables
  • Exposure to a wide variety of products and derivatives, risk analytics, and regulatory requirements
  • Detailed knowledge of and experience with model development/validation with capital/risk/derivative pricing models across multiple asset classes
  • Experience with coding (e.g., Python, Matlab, R) and Power BI, Alteryx
