An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and analytical Standards and Advice Manager to join a specialist legal and regulatory team. This role is ideal for a legally qualified professional with strong advisory and leadership experience who is looking to combine people management with high-level policy and regulatory work in a collaborative environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Standards & Advisory Lead, you will play a key role in managing advice services, supporting committee work and contributing to the development of professional standards and guidance. You will line manage a small team, oversee advisory outputs and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality, consistent and compliant practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Line managing and developing Standards and Advice Officers and administrative staff
- Ensuring team members deliver high-quality, accurate and consistent advice to stakeholders
- Supporting the leadership and development of the Standards and Advice function
- Supporting the work of the Standards Committee, including preparing agendas, drafting papers and coordinating meetings
- Drafting updates and amendments to professional codes of conduct and supporting guidance
- Providing expert advice on professional conduct matters via telephone and email
- Supporting sub-committees and panels, including certification and ethics-related work
- Assisting with projects and working groups linked to regulatory standards and governance
- Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders on regulatory and advisory matters
- Supporting development of internal protocols, guidance and best practice resources
- Contributing to analysis of advisory work and responding to audits
- Supporting delivery of internal and external training programmes

You will be a confident and thoughtful legal professional with strong advisory skills and leadership experience. You will be comfortable managing complex issues, supporting a team and contributing to strategic initiatives in a regulated environment.
