Accounts Payable Specialist (Financial Services) London City 12-Month Maternity Cover

An international Investment Bank based in the City of London is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join their Finance team on a 12-month maternity cover contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong Financial Services experience to take ownership of the Accounts Payable function within a fast-paced, regulated environment.
The Role
Working closely with Finance, Treasury and Operations teams, you will be responsible for the end-to-end Accounts Payable process across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance and efficiency at every stage. The organisation utilises NetSuite, so previous experience with the system is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the full Accounts Payable lifecycle, including invoice processing, coding, approvals and posting.
- Preparing and overseeing weekly and monthly payment runs.
- Maintaining supplier records and managing vendor relationships.
- Performing AP-related bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
- Managing employee expenses and corporate card transactions.
- Supporting VAT reporting and ensuring appropriate tax treatment.
- Producing AP ageing reports and KPI dashboards.
- Assisting with month-end close activities, including accruals and prepayments.
- Preparing audit documentation and supporting internal controls.
- Working collaboratively with Procurement, Treasury and Operations to improve processes and supplier experience.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Previous Accounts Payable experience within Banking, Investment Banking or Financial Services
Strong knowledge of NetSuite including supplier, invoice and payment processing
Experience working within a multi-entity environment
Understanding of VAT, accruals, prepayments and AP controls
Strong Excel skills including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP
Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
Confident communication skills with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
