We are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Westminster R&M department, based from our office in Maida Vale, London. The role will involve managing the commercial elements of our repairs contract with Westminster City Council.
About the Role
As our Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will manage the day-to-day commercial control, reporting and management of reactive repairs, ensuring the Regional Directors are appraised of all progress. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of commercial professionals. Within the role, you'll manage the progress of all accounts, both client and sub-contract, through to finalisation. You'll have effective commercial control of all allocated projects, including the provision of timely submission of valuations, invoicing, cash collection, CVR reporting, payment of supply chain, forecast and budget setting. You will ensure that forecasts are achieved or exceeded where possible to ensure maximum profitability and value for MSPS and our clients. In conjunction with the operational team, you will drive productivity, identify opportunities to ensure that regional goals are achieved. In conjunction with the Procurement Team, you will ensure that the procurement of sub-trades and suppliers is undertaken in a timely and cost-effective manner and manage the timely production of the main/sub-contract final accounts, including re-measurement as necessary to ensure the best result, evaluation and agreement of all variations, extensions of time, loss and expense claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead commercial matters for planned projects including building fire safety schemes.
- Procurement financial performance and periodic reporting, including forecasting, profit/loss, cash flow, etc.
- Contract compliance.
- Meeting/liaison with client/subcontract/supply chain as necessary.
- Manage commercial risk and opportunity.
- Develop and agree a commercial strategy which achieves budget and maximises profitability.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who has knowledge and understanding of measurement and valuation, with strong commercial skills to maximise value recovery. You'll also have a good understanding of budgets and forecast management, CVRs and supplementary financial reports and final accounts. Experience within housing maintenance is essential and you'll have knowledge of National Housing Federation Schedule of Rates along with housing maintenance commercial models. The right person for this role will also have had experience of managing teams and be able to demonstrate strong leadership and the ability to develop a small team.
