We are seeking a motivated and experienced LE1 Overhead Lines Operative to join our Energy team, supporting overhead line projects across Scotland. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the safe and successful delivery of a variety of schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills and take on greater responsibility within a high‑performing, collaborative team.

Role Responsibilities

  • Install, build, and refurbish overhead power lines up to 400kV.
  • Maintain and continually develop skills and competencies in line with National Grid, Morgan Sindall standards, and any legislative changes.
  • Deliver all works in accordance with Morgan Sindall and client standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to support the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of operations.
  • Always maintain site safety, including completing daily risk assessments where required.
  • Follow all instructions set out in risk assessments and guidance notes.
  • Promptly report any accidents, incidents or near misses.
  • Complete all works to the required high-quality standards.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

  • LE1 National Grid approved competencies (NG Persons).
  • Demonstrable experience working as a LE1 OHL Operative.
  • NSI 4 Operations (preferred but not essential).
  • Proven experience delivering refurbishment works up to and including 400kV.
  • Ideally, some experience in new build overhead line projects.
  • Track record of working on the National Grid transmission network.
  • Experience operating specialist plant such as winch tractors, capstan winches, and puller/tensioners.

About The Energy Business Unit

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators. Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
