Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commissioning Engineer - Mechanical to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in the successful execution of commissioning projects. Your primary focus will be ensuring that commissioning activities are carried out safely and effectively, in accordance with the Commissioning 'Deliver Project Commissioning and Pre-Operations requirements' and supporting arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute commissioning activities in compliance with established procedures and standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams to plan and execute commissioning work scope efficiently.
  • Perform and oversee commissioning tests, ensuring safety and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all commissioning tests and results.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with commissioning activities.
  • Prioritise and allocate commissioning resources to support project goals.
  • Liaise with relevant personnel to facilitate project permissions and minimise disruptions.
  • Integrate commissioning activities with other project processes, including design and risk assessment.
  • Promote and implement best practices in commissioning within the organisation.
  • Continuously learn and apply lessons from past commissioning experiences.
  • Ensure the complete inclusion of commissioning work scope within project plans.
  • Collaborate with the commissioning team to meet or exceed project commissioning requirements.
  • Develop and execute commissioning strategies aligned with project goals.
  • Report commissioning progress to stakeholders.
  • Define commissioning scope in tender invitations and conduct subsequent assessments.
  • Oversee compliance with approved testing and commissioning programs.
  • Assess and maintain the competence of commissioning resources.
  • Encourage the use of shared best practices and procedures.
  • Fulfil duties as an Intelligent Customer for commissioning, ensuring contractor oversight and assurance.
  • Implement project commissioning arrangements in line with company policies, regulations, and quality requirements.
  • Work collaboratively in compliance with the Collaborative Management Plan.
  • Approve commissioning expenditures within approved limits.
  • Appoint commissioning team members.
  • Authorise the start and completion of commissioning work.
  • Approve commissioning project deliverables, including strategy, estimates, program, test documentation, and reports.
  • Evaluate and approve commissioning test results.

Requirements

  • Completed an apprenticeship and/or OBC/Level 3 qualification in a relevant mechanical discipline as well as experience of working in an engineering/technical role where you were responsible for fault finding.
  • The scale and complexity of our projects mean that you will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders so it's important that you have excellent communication skills.
  • Good computer skills are also important as you will be responsible for producing test documentation and reports.
  • Experience of working in Nuclear or a highly regulated environment is nice to have but if you are new to the industry and have the relevant skills and experience then we would love to hear from you.
