Opportunity
We’re excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a high‑performing commercial team delivering major rail infrastructure works across the Network Rail CP7 framework. Working on multiple schemes within a significant programme of works, you’ll play a key role in managing the commercial aspects of projects, including subcontract management, procurement of assets, and handling client change processes. Operating within a main contractor environment, you’ll work extensively with NEC contracts, supporting the successful delivery of complex rail projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintaining commercial information for the contract, ensuring the needs of both the client and Morgan Sindall are met in terms of accurate reporting of commercial performance.
- Preparing and pricing contracts, managing procurement, and supporting financial control throughout the project.
- Producing timely reports, forecasts and commercial advice to support decision‑making.
- Assisting with bid activity and providing support to senior colleagues during pre‑contract and delivery stages.
- Working closely with design and delivery teams to identify cost savings and efficiencies.
- Supporting risk and opportunity management in line with company and client procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure or major projects.
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts (Option C/E preferred).
- Degree‑qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Professionally accredited (or working towards accreditation).
- Strong skills in maintaining commercial records, reporting and forecasting.
- Experience in procurement, contract preparation and cost control.
- Good stakeholder and client relationship skills, with the ability to engage confidently at all levels.
- A detail‑focused, proactive approach with a drive to deliver results.
- This role would suit an ambitious, driven individual who embraces the challenge of working within a high performing and supportive team.
- Experience within the civil engineering industry is essential for this role, ideally coming from a main contractor background.
