We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Quality Manager to join our team on the National Grid Framework, supporting the delivery of a range of exciting schemes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to further develop their skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility.

Role responsibilities

  • Assist and support the Engineering Manager with all quality matters.
  • Monitor and report on quality KPI metrics.
  • Be the lead in managing quality processes and standards with the project engineering team and Supply Chain. This includes mentoring junior engineers and leading quality improvement projects within the project, sector, and business unit.
  • Oversee quality in operational delivery and all site areas.
  • Develop and implement quality best practice, ensuring compliance against the quality management system and industry standards.
  • Ensuring all activities defined, planned, and implemented are aligned to the Quality Policy, Processes and Management Plan.
  • Maintain a level of independence to enable appropriate ability to challenge management and to function as the conscious of the business.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

  • Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or related discipline; chartership desirable.
  • Proven QA/QC leadership on major infrastructure.
  • Strong command of ISO 9001 and integrated management systems; internal auditor certification advantageous.
  • Hands‑on with ITPs, hold points, approvals, and digital QA tools Field View, Viewpoint for Projects.
  • Working knowledge of NEC contracts, specifications, and test regimes; confident with nonconformance management and defect prevention.
  • Meticulous planning; practical, site‑focused problem solving.
  • Enhancing quality culture and behaviours within Morgan Sindall and Supply Chain.
  • Clear communicator - able to brief engineers, supervisors, and workers succinctly and gain buy‑in, and able to communicate issues and solutions to client team.
  • Data‑driven, with a continuous‑improvement mindset.
  • Strong stakeholder management.
  • Self-motivated, to constantly improve upon established quality standards.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues to deliver project and operational performance.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
