We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Finance Assistant to join our team on the National Grid Great Grid Upgrade (GGP) Framework, supporting the delivery of a diverse portfolio of high‑profile infrastructure schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to develop their finance career, take on increasing responsibility, and play a key role in the successful delivery of major national infrastructure projects. Role Responsibilities
- Assist with the purchase ledger, including processing supplier deliveries and invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
- Resolve invoice and payment queries, consulting effectively with both external suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Support month‑end reporting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, spreadsheets, and documentation are maintained.
- Assist the Cost Manager with a range of finance‑related tasks, providing support as required.
- Support the wider project team with financial and administrative activities.
- Maintain and manage the timesheet system, ensuring accurate and up‑to‑date records are captured.
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Previous experience using accounts or finance systems, with a sound understanding of purchase ledger processes.
- Experience working with COINS or similar construction or commercial finance systems.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel, with the ability to accurately produce and maintain financial data.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Confident in contributing across multiple projects, sites, or operational areas.
- Strong written communication skills, with a logical and analytical approach to problem solving.
- A strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining exacting standards and meeting required specifications.
- Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues to support project delivery and overall operational performance.
