Location: National Opportunity
Opportunity: Senior Commercial Manager to work on the Great Grid Partnership (GGP) with National Grid. The programme covers the next 10 years and involves a range of projects of varying value and duration.
The Role
- Actively involve in winning new work and developing appropriate commercial strategies.
- Engage during Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) stages and throughout project delivery.
- Develop and agree a commercial strategy to achieve budget and maximise profitability.
- Manage commercial opportunity, risk and ensure commercial reporting procedures are robustly and timely adhered to.
- Manage, coordinate, supervise and support commercial teams in personal development and advice.
- Manage all commercial aspects including monthly reporting, end-life forecasting, monthly project reviews and account settlement.
- Proactively manage procurement in line with the supply-chain vision.
- Rigorous management of contractual processes.
- Negotiate with National Grid on all contractual matters and ensure timely resolution.
- Input into management reports and articulate management information clearly.
- Maintain ownership and proactively close out old projects and legacy issues.
- Understand and promote Morgan Sindall core values.
- Keep abreast of changes in commercial legislation and cascade to wider project teams.
- Deliver contractual awareness training to wider project teams.
- Develop a lessons-learnt culture to enable continuous improvement.
- Be self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a growth mindset.
- Possess good management skills and the ability to motivate employees to achieve high standards of compliance.
- Display excellent organisational, planning and time-management skills; manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising quality.
- Manage the monthly reporting process including cost-value reporting (CVR).
- Have experience using COINS and commercial management of sub-contractors including procurement, valuations and final accounts.
- Setup and manage direct labour, plant and materials on projects; possess knowledge and experience of dispute resolution.
The Person
- Educated to BSc in Quantity Surveying (or other equivalent commercially related discipline) and working towards professional membership of an appropriate organisation (e.g., RICS/CIOB).
- Experience of a Contract Management System (CEMAR, Fast Draft, etc.).
- Supervisory or management experience within a project commercial team.
- Experience with NEC 3 or 4 essential.
- Established level of experience capable of managing a team while reporting to the Commercial Director for strategic and management guidance.
