The Role:
As SHE manager you will provide leadership, advice and support to the Energy business in relation to safety, health, environment, sustainability and competence assurance to maintain and further develop the high standards achieved with in the Business Unit.
Must have:

  • Experience of working within a heavily regulated sector such as energy transmission
  • Experience of Infrastructure / heavy civil engineering projects
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Experience of incident investigation / root cause analysis
  • Experience of leading and managing a team
  • Willingness to challenge others when required
  • Enthusiasm to adopt best practice and shared learning
  • Be prepared to travel and work within England and Wales as required.
  • Experience of interfacing directly with client, supply chain and other stakeholders

Responsibilities:
As a SHE Manager, you will:

  • Provide support to the SMT in respect of the business strategy
  • Supporting the embedment of our Protecting People Commitment
  • Ensure the business achieves compliance with safety, health and environmental legislation, industry and Morgan Sindall standards identifies opportunities for improvement and strives to achieve best practice
  • Lead, provide advice and support to the management team, employees and those working with us.
  • Be familiar with and carry out duties set out in the Morgan Sindall SHE & Sustainability policies and procedures
  • Provide leadership and coordination to the business unit SHEQ function and team
  • Report accurately and effectively on SHEQ matters
  • Provide support and identify resources in the support of PQQs and tenders working as appropriate
  • Provide development support/mentoring support to less experienced members of the wider SHEQ team.
  • Support project accident/incident investigation to identify root cause and learning opportunities.
  • Lead / contribute to infrastructure wide improvement/working groups

Competence/Training:

  • NEBOSH Diploma/ NVQ Level 5 in Occupational Safety and Health (working towards)
  • General NEBOSH Certificate
  • Construction NEBOSH Certificate (desirable)
  • Appropriate CSCS skills card
  • First Aid Basic Certificate
  • NEBOSH Fire Prevention and Risk Management Certificate (desirable)
  • Environmental Management Systems Qualification (desirable)
  • Detailed knowledge of current health and safety and environmental legislation and its application in construction or traditional civil engineering project based environment
  • Extensive knowledge of effective management strategies and best practice
  • General Management qualification (desirable)
  • Graduate IOSH Status or CMIOSH status (desirable)
