We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Energy team on the Scottish Power Framework, supporting both our DWNO (Denny to Wishaw Network Optimisation) and CMN3 (Galashiels to the England–Scotland border) projects.
In this role, you will lead the commercial management across these major programmes, overseeing all aspects of commercial delivery—including main contract administration, financial control, forecasting, CVRs, change management, and the procurement and management of the supply chain. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in shaping significant energy infrastructure projects while contributing to the successful delivery of a long‑term strategic framework.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage the client contract across DWNO and CMN3, including change management and all NEC4 deliverables.
- Lead and manage multiple subcontractor packages from early involvement through delivery, acting as the main point of contact for subcontractors and internal site labour.
- Oversee design subcontractor management and coordination with external design partners.
- Prepare and support CVRs and monthly commercial reporting.
- Lead commercial delivery and provide accurate commercial reports, forecasts, and strategic advice.
- Manage subcontract procurement, administration, applications, variations, and final accounts.
- Oversee cost reporting, forecasting, and commercial risk management.
- Manage upstream and downstream change control processes and ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including the client’s commercial team.
- Identify, manage, and escalat commercial risks or issues.
- Support and mentor junior commercial staff and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Deliver against commercial performance targets and maintain financial controls using systems such as COINS.
- Undertake limited site travel, between the office, home, and site offices as required.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- BSc in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent commercially related discipline.
- Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, or CIArb) desired but not essential.
- Essential experience working with NEC4 (NEC4 PM Accreditation highly desirable) or NEC3 forms of contract.
- Background in heavy civils; highways and substation experience desirable.
- Experience within energy‑related or major infrastructure environments.
- Supervisory or team‑management experience within a commercial team (desirable).
- Ability to lead and support a small team while collaborating with senior leadership.
- Strong commercial acumen and a delivery‑focused mindset.
- Proficiency with Contract Management Systems (e.g., CEMAR, FastDraft).

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
