We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team on the Great Grid Partnership framework with National Grid. In this key role, you will play a pivotal part in the successful delivery of the Norwich to Tilbury (ATNC) underground cabling project, contributing your expertise to one of the UK’s major energy infrastructure programmes and helping to shape a more resilient, future‑ready network.

Role Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of project delivery, ensuring completion within agreed time, cost, and quality targets.
  • Provide leadership, management, and supervision of multi‑disciplinary project teams, ensuring effective coordination across all workstreams.
  • Lead stakeholder and customer engagement, building strong and collaborative relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Promote and embed a culture of health, safety, and wellbeing aligned with the Perfect Delivery philosophy.
  • Manage budgets and project costs, ensuring accurate forecasting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Oversee risk and opportunity management, supporting effective decision‑making and value optimisation.
  • Ensure high‑quality installations and outcomes that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Champion continuous improvement and drive knowledge sharing across teams and the wider supply chain.
  • Implement and uphold Morgan Sindall policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance and best practice across all project activities.
  • Consult effectively with customers and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment across all phases of the project.
  • Support strategic planning and provide leadership to wider project operations to ensure smooth and effective delivery.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager, with a strong history of leading and delivering large, complex civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in underground cabling projects (highly beneficial).
  • Strong background in heavy civils within the energy or utilities sectors.
  • Demonstrable experience managing large‑scale civils and electrical projects, ideally valued at £100m+.
  • Knowledge of planning submissions and Ofgem gateway approval processes.
  • Strong capability in pre‑construction and design management, providing strategic input from early project stages.
  • Elevated level of commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑building abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and sustainable project delivery.

About the Energy Business Unit

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators. Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
