Talented people are the key to our success. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior General Foreman to join our Rail team, working on a range of projects across the Network Rail CP7 Western and Wales Framework. This is a key leadership role overseeing site delivery, safety, quality and commercial performance across multiple project environments. As Senior General Foreman, you will take responsibility for delivering defined tasks, goals and objectives to an industry-leading standard. Working with minimal day-to-day supervision, you will manage operational activities on site, lead teams, and contribute to the successful delivery of projects ranging in size and complexity. You will be accountable for the performance of teams on site, taking ownership of day-to-day decisions while escalating significant matters appropriately. This role requires a proactive, organised individual with strong leadership, technical and commercial awareness.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and manage site operations on small to medium projects, or supervise trades and coordinate key activities on larger projects.
- Deliver works safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards in line with Network Rail requirements.
- Take responsibility for the performance, motivation and supervision of site-based teams.
- Plan and manage site activities, ensuring programme, cost and quality objectives are met.
- Manage costs and quantities on smaller projects, or support commercial controls on larger schemes.
- Ensure full compliance with HSEQ standards at all times – safety leadership is non-negotiable.
- Work collaboratively within project teams, supporting multiple projects running simultaneously where required.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Excellent planning, organisational and time-management capability.
- Sound knowledge of construction practices and standards within the rail environment.
- Essential experience working on or around Network Rail Infrastructure, including structures works.
- Strong understanding of HSEQ and commercial controls, including site cost management.
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to overall project and operational performance.
- SMSTS PTS CSCS Gold Card (NVQ Level 4 minimum)
